And it is a legitimate option. Typically, a broker is going to charge a commissions ranging anywhere from 15% upwards of 30%.

Okay, the first thing you need to do is you need to check the closing sales price at your resort. Give them a call. They’ve got all the information in their computers for re-sales about what units have sold at your resort recently. Get the closing sales price, not the asking price. That’ll give you a baseline for what your unit is worth.

Next, you need to go online and you need to research prices, either at your resort or at ones nearby that are comparable. And I’m going to give you two places to do that.

The first one you’ve all heard about, that’s eBay.com. You might not have known that they have a very active Timeshare resale market. So go over there. That’s eBay.com.

The second one, you probably have not heard of. It’s called tug2.net. And they have a very active classified section, where you can search and see if you can find some comparable units to yours to get a good price estimate.

And the third piece of advice to nail the price in is you really need to go contact some professional resale brokers. And I say professional — you want somebody who’s licensed; and you want somebody who focuses on Timeshares, and specifically, ones in your area. They can give you a pricing opinion on your unit.
