Timeshare Resort Mogul Found Guilty of Sexual Harassment



The founder and CEO of Westgate timeshare and Westgate vacation villas, David Siegel was found guilty this week in Orlando, Florida federal court on charges of sexual harassment. Since that time, Westgate timeshare has expanded to include multiple timeshare resort properties in the Orlando area, as well as timeshare real estate in Myrtle Beach, Miami Beach, Williamsburg, Gatlinburg, Branson, Tunica, Park City, Mesa, Las Vegas, and Anaheim. County Council May Consider Regulating Timeshare Industry

Meanwhile, hotel room occupancy has continued to decrease, which prompted County Council Chairman Riki Hokama to propose a bill last September to limit timeshares on Maui to 2,200 units; however, the industry has already exceeded this limit. Joseph Toy, a panelist and hospitality advisor, said there has been a shift in demand from hotels to timeshares in an international market where worldwide branding of timeshares is prevalent.
